He was a member of the Word of Faith Church, he was the founder of the homeless shelter in Mayfield, Bro. Burgess started a local radio ministry, jail ministry and he was a retired minister.
Bro. Burgess is survived by his wife- Louise Hubbard Burgess of Melber, Ky; five children- Donnie Burgess, Sherry Tharp, Timothy Burgess, Cynthia Lamance, and Edwin Lamance all of California; three sisters- Dollie LaFortune-Cook of Florida, Dean Bowler of Paducah, Ky, and Patsy Bayoumi of Florida; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents- Albert Jessie & Mary Wilson Burgess; one sister- Lena Turner; one brother- Joe Burgess.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield, Ky with Rev. Windell Lain officiating. Burial will follow in the Beulah Community Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield, Ky.
