Nellie Mae Smith
Eighty-eight year old Newton resident died of heart failure October 15, 1995 at ConvaRest of Newton. Funeral services for her are scheduled to be held at Webb Funeral Chapel Wednesday, October 18, with Rev. Ed Temple and Rev. H. O. Carmichael officiating. Interment is to take place in the Masonic Cemetery, Newton.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Otto Smith. Survivors include one daughter, Martha Jean Bartles of Stutgart, Germany; three sons, Jimmy Smith of Newton, Wilbur Smith of Grenada and Charles Smith ; of Houston, Texas; one sister, Flora Davis of Newton; ten grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Newton United Methodist Church where she had served on the Administrative Board, she worked for the Newton Hospital as a receptionist after retiring as agent for Railway Express Co.
Listed as pallbearers are Jamey Smith, Scott Smith, Chuck Smith, Steve Therril, Jack Edwards, Tommy Crafton and Ronald Davis.
