Glenn D. Brandhorst, 88, of Alamo, Texas, formerly of Steeleville, passed away at the McAllen Medical Center on Saturday, September 21, 2013.

Glen was born in rural Campbell Hill, IL on September 1, 1925, the son of Fred and Mona Bergfeld. He married Neva Hanger on February 15, 1947, she preceded him in death on December 16, 1955. He then married Gloria Young on March 11, 1961 in Cutler, IL. Glen was veteran of the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Anchor Bible Baptist Church in Pharr, TX; Alma Lodge #497 A.F. & A.M., Steeleville, U.M.W. of A Local #1392, and B.B.K. American Legion Post #480, Steeleville. He was a retired Coal Miner from Captain mine.

Glen was preceded in death by his Parents; one daughter, Glenna Renea Brandhorst; and three brothers, Wayne Bruce "Doodle" Bergfeld, Evertte George "Jake" Bergfeld, and Oren James "Jimmie" Bergfeld.

Neva B. Hanger Brandhorst was killed in a car/train accident in Chester. Her sister, Myrtle Russell was severely injured but survived the crash.
