Daniel "Danny" Lewis Bowers, 56, of Bristol, Va. passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born in Abingdon, Va. on February 12, 1960, a son of the late Robert Lee Bowers and Mary Leonard Bowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Arnold and Maybell Leonard; and his Mamaw, Susie Bowers. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church and worked at Central Machine Shop since 1981. He loved riding motorcycles with his sons. But loved his kids and grandkids most of all. Daniel is survived by his wife of 34 years, Dorothy Bowers; two sons, Josh Bowers and wife, Rachel Moore Bowers of Bristol, Va., and Johnny Bowers and wife, Kourtni McClanahan Bowers of Bristol, Va.; three grandchildren, Hunter Bowers, Eli Campbell, and Katie Bowers; two brothers, Tony Bowers and wife, Mona of Knoxville, Tenn., and Eric Bowers and wife, Sherry of Bristol, Va.; two brothers-in-law, Garland Leonard and wife, Sheila, and Raymond Leonard and wife, Deanna; several nieces and nephews; two great nieces; aunts and uncles; and best friends, Mike Hall, Wayne Peters, and Chuck Parcell. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services, 417 Lee St., Bristol, Va. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Michael Vandagriff officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016, in Susong Cemetery, Bristol, Va. Pallbearers will be Chris Vandagriff, David Leonard, Mike Hall, Jacob Shortt, Andrew Bowers, Craig Bowers, Justin Bowers and Charles "Hotshot" Leonard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Peters, Chuck Parcell and employees of Central Machine Shop. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
