Bertha Mae Lawson was born in Birmingham, AL on October 8, 1909. The first child of the late Mary Gardner and Sam Jones. She was married to her first her husband Johnny Wayatt for many years. After Johnny passed away, she married Willie Lawson and was married until his death. Bertha never remarried. Bertha accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Birmingham where she served on the Senior Usher Board. She was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Coleman and Alice Hawkins. She leaves behind to mourn her loss, her brothers, Norm and Sam Jones of Chicago, IL; nieces, Johnnie Bogans of Acworth, GA, Claudette Davis of San Diego CA; cousins, Earnestine Phillips, Rose Thomas, and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends. Arrangements under the direction of Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, Birmingham, AL.
