Rebecca (McIndoe) Lawrence, 96, of Hanover, PA, died, Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Center, Hanover, PA.

Born December 30, 1919 in Gary, WV, she was the daughter of the late John and Edna (Durst) McIndoe. Rebecca was the loving wife of the late George E. Lawrence who died December 1, 1995.

Rebecca was a grad-uate of the University of Maryland, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She taught Kindergarten for a short time while her sons were in school.

Rebecca was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA. She was a member of the Hanover Country Club, the Atlantis Golf Club, the Hanover Hospital Auxiliary, the Hanover YWCA Garden Club, the Guthrie Memorial Library, the Hanover Historical Society and also a member of various bridge groups.

Rebecca was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading and playing bridge.

Rebecca is survived by a son, Jeffrey M. Lawrence and his wife Mindy of Lancaster, PA, a daughter-in-law, Sandra Lawrence of Atlantis, FL; two grandchildren, Damon Heller and his wife Stefanie, and Lauren Rogers and her husband Joey; and four great grandchildren, Anya, Gavi, Mia and Beau. She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen M. Lawrence, who died August 12, 2006, and a sister, Jean Clore.

Following cremation, a graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, May 20, 2016 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Austin L. Chinault officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Rebecca may be made to the Guthrie Memorial Library, 2 Library Place, Hanover, PA 17331, or to the Hanover Hospital, 300 Highland Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
