Elisha Moore Kills Marvin Corbitt At Pine Bloom Friday Morning.
Corbitt Died In A Short Time After Receiving Fearful Wound.
The Trouble Started Over A Gun.

A report reached the city early Friday morning from Pinebloom that an awful tragedy took place there about eight o'clock when ELISHA MOORE killed Marvin Corbitt by shooting him through the heart. The information was received here by telephone and the facts are meager, but we give them as they came to us.

It seems that both parties to the tragedy fell out over a gun on the afternoon before, and that Moore said some things to Corbitt that he (Corbitt) did not like to take. However, it was thought that the matter was settled before night, but early Friday morning Corbitt met Moore just in front of the commissary of Mr. B. B. Gray and ask him to retract.

Moore refused and Corbitt began to shoot. Moore also took up the shooting and about eight shots were fired between them. Corbitt walked into the store towards the counter, after the shooting, but fell before he reached the counter, dying immediately. He was shot through the heart or near it. Moore left immediately for Willacoochee, a mile away, and it was not known at the hour of going to press whether he was seriously injured or not or whether he was hit at all. However, it is supposed that he must have been, as the parties were very close together. The last hear of Moore was that he was in Willacoochee. These facts may be true or vary some from the true status but it is the information received by phone.

Mr. Moore is agent for the A. C. L. Railroad at Pinebloom and a son of the late Aaron Moore of Willacoochee. Mr. Corbitt was a son of the elder Colonel Corbitt who lives out from Kirkland.

Both gentleman are prominent in their community and are connected with some of the best people in the county, and the affair is much regretted by everybody.
