Kenneth L. Hagey
January 28, 1923 – May 14, 2016

Kenneth L. Hagey, 93 of Galion, Ohio formerly of Monroe died at 9:30 pm Saturday at the home of his daughter while under the care of Harbor Light Hospice. He had been in poor health a year and a half.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday. Burial to follow at Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock.

Born January 28, 1923 in Preston, Ontario, Canada he was the son of Roy M. and Elvina (Martin) Hagey. He married Nina Eileen Murphy on April 5, 1946 in London, Ontario. Sadly she preceded him in death on February 20, 2009.

Kenneth served in the Canadian Army during World War II and was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge and was taken as a POW. While recuperating in a Canadian Army Hospital he met an army nurse who was to become his future wife.

Kenneth worked for D.T & I Railroad and retired in September 1986 as train master.

He enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia, golfing and wintering in Texas.

Surviving are his children Dennis R. (Mary Jo) Hagey of Gladwin, Michigan, Darryl R. (Trina) Hagey of Constantine, Michigan and Donna E. (Patrick) Webb of Galion, Ohio with whom he made his home; six grandchildren Arthur T. (Rebecca) Hagey of Richland, Sean M. (Jenny) Hagey of Brown City, Brad M. (Pilar) Hagey of Canton, Matthew R. (Holly) Hagey of Grand Haven, Tasha E. (Ronald) Marshall of Mansfield, Ohio and Ian E. Webb of North Carolina; thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; brother Ralph Hagey and sister Alice Hagey.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Harbor Light Hospice 2267 Village Mall Dr. #4, Ontario, Ohio 44906 or the American Cancer Society.
