ordon Ray Reeg, age 93, of Sturgis, MI and formerly of Bradenton, FL, went to be with his beloved Lord on Monday, July 20, 2015.
He was born Feb. 16, 1922 in LaPorte, IN a son of the late Foster and Irene (Losey) Reeg.
Gordon graduated from Sturgis High School with the class of 1940 and was a lifelong resident of Sturgis until moving to Bradenton, FL in 1984.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In 1943 he married Helen (Keagle) Knapp and she preceded him in death on Sept. 22, 1999.
Gordon was proud to be a Kirsch employee where he worked for many years as a draftman. He and Helen enjoyed traveling with their antique business, "China Connection." After retirement, Gordon loved living in Florida with Helen and going to antique shows. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis.
Surviving are one daughter: Julie (Larry) Patterson of Sturgis, MI; 4 granddaughters: Kelli (Mark) McCready, Amy (Dave) Morris, Dawn (Robert) Atkins and Paula (Ryan) Meyer; 7 grandchildren: Keegan and Nicholas McCready, Benjamin and Grace Morris, Jacob and Alicia Wallman, and Haley Irelan; 1 sister: Joy Myers of Florida; 1 Brother: Art Reeg of Michigan; 1 sister-in-law: Billie Reeg of Sturgis, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter: Janis Irelan, one sister: Audrey Hecht, 2 brothers: Jack Reeg and Vernon Reeg, 3 sisters-in-law: Eva Poffenberger, Joyce Thomas, and Katheryn Holst, 2 brothers-in-law: Dave Thomas and Harold Keagle, and one son-in-law: Kenneth Irelan.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will take place at a later date. The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091 has been entrusted with the arrangements.
