Henry Edward Reimers was born on April 2, 1933 in Davenport, a son of Henry W. and Gertrude A. (Beenk) Reimers. He proudly served our country in the Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Beverly J. Scheef on April 23, 1955 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. They recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
After his discharge, Hank went to work for the U.S. Postal Service. He later was involved in the printing business and retired in 1999.
Hank always had a story or joke for any occasion. He enjoyed history, especially the history of the West End of Davenport. He was a past member and past president of the friends of Credit Island, and on the board of Fairmount Cemetery. He was also active in coaching in Rising Knights and Dad’s Club when his children were younger.
Hank is survived by his wife, Beverly, children and their spouses: Crystal (Clyde) Wildermuth, Henry (Sandy) Reimers, Andrew Reimers, Tamara (Brian) Marshall, all of Davenport, and Elizabeth (Michael) Weimann, Honolulu, Hawaii; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters: Marilyn Sersig, Davenport, Shirley (Harry) Winters, Minn., and Kathy (Jack) Sheppard, Lake Bluff, Ill., and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Carol Ann Reimers, Teresa Hawthorne, his parents, a nephew, John Sheppard, a brother-in-law, Loyal Sersig, and a son-in-law. May they rest in peace.
The Reimers family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice Compassus and St. Mary’s Health and Rehab for all the compassionate care they gave to Hank.
