Helen Young McGill, 87, widow of Brantley McGill, of 748 George Alewine Road, passed on to be with the Lord on Monday, May 16, 2016 at her home. Helen was a daughter of James (1905-1966) and Mattie (1909-1984) Young.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a child of God. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Mattie Gambrell Young. She was retired from Erskine College.
Surviving are a son, Robert Junior McGill of Due West, two daughters, Elizabeth Chadwick of Due West and Judy Campbell of Honea Path, a brother, George Young of Honea Path, a sister Sara Alewine of Due West, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by three brothers, Albert, Clyde, and Ernest Young and five sisters, Elsie Mae Brock, Louise Honnicutt, Nancy Fields, Mary Brook and Ruby Vermillion.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Due West Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Paul Cooper officiating.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Elizabeth Chadwick, 684 George Alewine Road, Due West and will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
