BREEN, Joseph P. Sr. Of Arlington. February 21, 2012. Beloved husband of the late Pauline (Corbin) Loving father of Joseph P. Breen and his wife Patricia of Marblehead, and Michele Walsh and her husband Joseph of Acton. Devoted grandfather of Danielle, Kerry, Cassidy, Rebecca, and Colin. Brother of Mary Brewer of NY, Agnes Putnam of Randolph, Jean Breen of Arlington, and the late Jane, Thomas, Francis, William, and Charles Breen. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., (Rt.60, adjacent to St. Agnes Church) ARLINGTON on Saturday at 8 am. Funeral Mass at Saint Agnes Church at 9 am. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 pm. Burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington. Joseph was a graduate of Mission High School in Boston and Boston University. He worked in the Insurance industry for American Mutual and CNA. He was a late WW II Navy veteran in which he was a radioman Third Class on the Destroyer USS Selfridge. He participated in the rescue operation of 13 survivors from a crew of 62 from the USS Eagle 56, torpedoed off Portland Harbor by a German U-Boat April 23, 1945. He received WW II Victory medal, American Area Ribbon, European-African Area Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon (2 stars), and a Good Conduct Medal. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimers Assoc, 311 Arsenal St, Watertown, MA. 02472.
