Walker, G. P. "Dick"
Lt. Col. (Ret.) G. P. "Dick" Walker, age 88, passed away on October 17, 2006 at 2:00 p.m., at Memorial Hospital of lung cancer. He had a distinguished history of over 25 years of meritorious service to his country in both the Army Air Corps and the Air Force, receiving many awards for service and training, and serving in both the Philippine conflict and the Korean War. Shortly after his retirement from the Air Force in 1962, he entered Civil Service until that retirement in 1971.
He is survived by a sister, Bernadine Walker Gillespie of Tulsa, OK, two cousins, Cleamer Robinson and Clinton Robinson, both of Camden, AR, and two daughters, Gillie Palmer Walker, residing in Colorado Springs, and Bonita Lovejoy-walker, residing in Cascade, CO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Shields Walker and a son, George Patrick "Chips" Walker.
There will be a Memorial Service at the Shrine of Remembrance on October 24, 2006, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a committal service with military honors at Ft. Logan Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. at staging area "C". In lieu of flowers, contributions should be given in his name to any cancer research fund of choice.
