He was born June 2, 1939 in Drew County, AR to the late Charles Crook and Blanche Sawyer Crook.
He was a retired Lieutenant for the Monticello Police Department where he was in charge of radio operators for 29 years and 6 months, and was a member of Pauline Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Lynn Carpenter; one brother, Henry Crook; and two sisters, Edith Hays and Charlene Waymire.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, LaVerne Scott Crook of Monticello; one son, Terry Crook of Monticello; two grandsons, Jerry Richard Cater and John A. “Alex” Crook both of Monticello; one granddaughter, Amanda Nichole Cater of Monticello; a sister-in-law, Oledia Crook of Monticello; and a host of other relatives and friends.
