CREVE COEUR ~~ Dorothy Elizabeth Athens, 81, of 608 Fairview Ave. died at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.

Born May 24, 1925 near Mackinaw to Frederick and Elizabeth Schmidgall Robb, she married Frank Athens on September 23, 1944 in Franklin, Indiana. He died March 26, 1998 in Creve Coeur.

Surviving are 2 sons, Ronald F. Athens of Creve Coeur and Steven R. (Brenda) Athens of Washburn; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Frederick (Linda) Robb of Covell, Illinois.

She had last worked at Peoria Apron and Towel for 2 years. Previously, she had worked for LeTourneau-Westinghouse, Carson, Pierie, Scott & Co., JCPenney, Foster and Gallagher, and Caterpillar, Inc., all in Peoria. She had also worked in Indiana for Noblitt Sparks, making land mines.

She was a former member of Trinity Temple in Peoria and formerly attended First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur.

She enjoyed reading.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. David Lynn will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Minier Cemetery.
