Verna Oklahoma Taylor was born 1 March 1903 in Konowa, Seminole, Oklahoma, USA. She was 4th of the eight children born to Virgil Stephen Taylor (1870-1956) and Driscilla [Cook] Taylor (1870-1959). Siblings: Mary Pearl [Taylor] Ballinger (1894-1972), Monroe Elmer Taylor (1896-1974), Stella Ellen [Taylor] Headrick (1900-1984), Leonard Alvis Taylor (1905-1995), James Albert Taylor (1908-1987), Lester O. Taylor (1910-1959) and Delia Opal [Taylor] Rhodes (1912-1979). She also had one half-sister Florence Myrtle McGee (1887–1982). At the age of 16, she was employed as a clerk in the local dry good store. She was married to Perry Silas Johnson on 3 August 1920 in Oklahoma. They were the parents of two sons; Perry Silas Johnson Jr. (1922-2004) and James (Jimmy)Dale Johnson (1928-). Perry and Verna were divorced and Verna later was married to Thede Palmer (1899-1967). Verna was employed as a Fabricator in the Aircraft Industry. She passed away at the age of 75 years on 12 August 1978 at the Hospitality House in Alice, Jim Wells, Texas. She had suffered from Cerebral Arteriosclerosis for the last ten years of her life. She was laid to rest next to her husband Thede in the Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
