Janice G. James passed away peacefully Monday, May 9, 2016, as a result of heart and kidney failure, at Royal Plaza Health and Rehabilitation in Lewiston.
Janice was born Oct. 16, 1941, in Cloquet, Minn., to Karl and Anna Brandt. She lived the first year of her life in Minnesota before the family packed up and moved out to Pierce. They later moved to Kooskia, where she attended grade and high schools.
Janice met Raymond James in 1956 and the two married March 16, 1957, in Grange-ville. The couple made their home in Harpster for three years before returning to Kooskia, where they began raising six children. Raymond passed away Oct. 29, 2011.
Janice was president of the Altar Society of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Kamiah, was a member of the Rebekahs, volunteered at the library and was involved with the Clearwater Valley High School booster club. She enjoyed reading and crocheting and made many cherished blankets for the family, friends and donated them as well. She loved spending time with her family and her girlfriends down at the local coffee shop. Janice also made the best potato salad and could whip one up at a moment's notice.
Janice is survived by her six children; a brother; nine grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Raymond; sisters Norma Landaker and Mary Alice Meador; and granddaughter Jenny Rae Endebrock.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. next Saturday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Kamiah. A luncheon will follow at the social hall. A private family graveside service will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery in Kooskia.
The family would like to thank the staff of Royal Plaza Rehabilitation Center, who went above and beyond in helping our mom. We would also like to thank and acknowledge the thoughtful people and friends she made at Troon Apartments, who welcomed her with open arms.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Royal Plaza and for the entertainment budget in particular, which brightens everyone's day. Thank you, Erica.
