The death of Miss d/o late George J. THOMPSON, Esq. of St. Stephen (Charlotte Co.) has cast a gloom over various social circles. Her death is attributed to ulceration of the stomach. (see original) (Saint John The Daily Telegraph October 18, 1872)

d. 16th inst., at residence of her mother, Alice M. THOMPSON, age 24, d/o late George J. THOMPSON, Esq., Barrister. Funeral from her mother's residence, Hazen St. (St. John) 3 o'clock Saturday 19th inst. (Saint John The Daily Telegraph October 18, 1872)

In the 1851 N.B. Census, lawyer George J.Thompson, 33, native born, was living in St. Stephen Parish with Elizabeth, 27; Allice M., 3; and Francis Ann, 1, all born in N.B.
Also listed as lodgers but "Gone to California" were Jane McCarthy, 22, and Francis Dunn, 35, both born in N.B.

m. Tuesday, Trinity Church, by Rector, George J. THOMSON, Esq., Barrister at Law, St. Stephen (Charlotte Co.) / Elizabeth BAYARD second d/o Robert BAYARD, Esq., M.D. of this city. (Saint John New Brunswick Courier, June 21, 1845)

George and Elizabeth were siblings.
"We find a short biographical sketch in the 'Canadian Illustrated News' of November 3rd, 1877, but as there are two errors in it, we take this opportunity to correct them. It is true that Mr. Watson was twice married; but his first wife was the daughter of Rev. Dr. Skeffington THOMSON, not Rev. D.G. THOMSONG" (St. Andrews Bay Pilot, July, 1878)

George was the son of Skeffington Thomson.
