Howard Perry Reeves, 74, of Athens, Georgia, died Thursday, May 12, 2016 after a brief illness. Born in Monroe, Georgia, he was the son of the late Montine [Nunn] & Truman Reeves, Sr. He graduated from Monroe High School, where he was voted MVP of his 1959 football team. He lettered in football at Gordon Military College and later attended the University of Georgia. Perry moved to Athens in 1968 and founded Athens Pawn Shop, Inc. Some of his most fond memories were in the 70's when he coached youth football and senior league baseball teams to five championships. Through the years he especially enjoyed his family, friends golfing, fishing, hunting & traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lorey [Hale] Reeves; son, Greg Reeves; daughter & son-in-law Penni [Reeves] & Tim Deaton; step-daughters, Michelle Burger & Meredith Busch and sister, Mary Frances [Reeves] Schnake. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Mary Alex Reeves, Brooks Reeves, Chandler Reeves, Sidney Elizabeth Reeves, Joseph Deaton, Ivey Deaton, & Emma Kate Burger. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 15 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home, 3195 Atlanta Highway in Athens. A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 15 at 4 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park, 3655 Atlanta Highway in Athens. Bernstein Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
