Don William Reynolds (aka "Bump"), 90, died on Sunday, April 17th, 2016 in Austin, Texas. He was born on April 6th, 1926 in Centerburg, Ohio to Loren W. and Charlotte Hunt Reynolds.

Don spent his youth working on his family's 145 acre farm in Centerburg with his parents and 3 brothers. He loved the farm dearly and considered it home to his last day. His other youthful passion was football. He led the Centerburg Trojans to many victories as their fullback, and made headlines in the local newspaper on a regular basis. In 1944,

Don joined the Air Force where he was stationed in Florida through 1945.
In 1946 he returned to Ohio and enrolled at the Ohio State University where he earned his BS degree in Geology. Anyone who knew him throughout his life quickly found out what a diehard Ohio State Buckeye football fan he was.

After college, Don moved to Midland, Texas where he went to work for Union Oil Company in 1953. This is also where he met and married his wife of 60 years, Betty Spears on September 4th, 1953. They had three children in Midland?Bill, Dick and Brenda. In 1966, his position as a Geologist took his family from Midland to Anchorage, Alaska where he directed the oil and gas exploration effort in all of Alaska. By telling Union Oil Co. where to do geophysics and land acquisition, he became one of the geologists directly responsible for the discovery of oil in Alaska. Following Alaska, the Reynolds family spent 9 years in Bakersfield, Ca. before moving to Ventura, Ca. and finally to Oklahoma City where Don retired after 40 years of service. After retirement Don and Betty moved back to Ventura, and divided their time between California, Texas and his beloved farm in Centerburg.

Don was an avid outdoorsman. In the early years, it was fishing. Then, with his family, he learned to ski, spending every weekend during the winter at Badger Pass Ski Resort in Yosemite. They all also learned to play tennis at the Bakersfield Racquet Club, which became a lifetime sport for the whole family. Upon moving to Ventura they were very involved at both the Cabrillo and Pierpont Racquet Clubs.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Charlotte Reynolds; his wife, Betty Reynolds; his son, Richard (Dick) Reynolds and his brothers, Robert and Daniel Reynolds.

He is survived by his oldest son, Bill Reynolds, his wife, Stephanie, and two granddaughters, Cassidy and Elyssa. His daughter, Brenda Nascimento, and her husband, Randy; also his brother David Reynolds and his nieces, nephew, cousins and many extended family members around the Centerburg area.
