There he became a prolific and beloved character actor, appearing in over 100 films. He worked with such noted directors as Fellini, George Cukor and Jean Pierre Jeunet. His many credits include "Futures Vedettes" (1955), "Notre Dame de Paris" (1956), "What's New Pussycat?" (1965), "Travels with My Aunt" (1972), Fellini's "Casanova" (1976), "Who is Killing The Great Chefs of Europe" (1978), "Deux Heures Moins le Quart Avant Jesus-Christ" (1972), Roman Polanski's "Pirates" (1986) "Taxandria" (1994) and "The City of Lost Children" (1995). He died in Paris.
