Richmond, Va. - Keith Reed Stone, 93, formerly of Waterford, a member of the "Greatest Generation" and a proud World War II combat veteran, departed this life peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2016.

He was a long time resident of Waterford, living in Ridgewood Park from 1948 until 2009 when due to failing health, he moved to Richmond to live near his son, Dennis K. Stone. Mr. Stone died of natural causes.

He was born June 6, 1922, in Litchfield, Minn. and grew up in Minneapolis. He met his wife Mary while serving at Camp Hale, Colorado and married her in 1946 after returning from serving in combat with the Army in the Philippines and Okinawa.

Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years; son, Clifford; and grandson, Christopher.

He is survived by his son, Dennis; daughter-in-law, Riki; grandchildren, Rob and Katherine, their spouses and four great-grandchildren, all residing in Richmond, Va.

A graveside service to inter Mr. Stone will be held at a later date in Waterford.
