Gloria Shafer Mayo, 91, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on June 2, 2015. Born in Baltimore, May 22, 1924, she resided in Catonsville for over 60 years before moving to Fairhaven Continuing Care Community in Sykesville, MD. Gloria is survived by her adoring big sister Christine Eastwood of Columbia, S C., the son and daughter she was so proud of, Douglas C. Mayo, New Orleans, LA, and his wife Billie Mayo, and Christine S. Mayo, Rocky Ridge, MD and her husband Steven Boszormenyi, and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph C. Mayo and sisters Joann Miller and husband William, and Evelyn Stout and husband Buford, and cousins Patricia Sanders and Eugene Stout. Gloria was a member of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church and cherished her friends and church community. She also praised and adored the caring staff at Fairhaven. The family thanks all for their love and support for Gloria in her final years. Graveside services and interment will be at St. John's Cemetery in Ellicott City, MD, at a time yet to be determined by the family. Baltimore Sun June 6, 2015
