Helen Jane Brewer Thornton, the eldest daughter of the late Benjamin and Betty Brewer, was born July 26, 1943 in Franklin (Heard County) Georgia.

At an early age she joined the Stateline Baptist Church in Franklin, Georgia. She attended Mary Johnson High School. She was employed by Playtex and Atlas Roofing for many years.

She was married to John S. Thornton for twenty-nine years. During that time she mothered five children; Dexter, Carla, Cynthia, Sharon, and Antonio.

Mrs. Thornton very quietly and peacefully, entered into Eternal Rest on May 5, 2016 at West Georgia Medical Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sister; Laura Brewer, Erma Jean Laye, Barbara Ann Edmondson, and Mary Grace Gray; three brothers; Billy Wayne Brewer, Ellis Arnold Brewer, and Steve Brewer.

She leaves to cherish her memories five children, Dexter Thornton, Carla Thornton, Cynthia Thornton, Sharon Thornton and Antonio Thornton; grandchildren, Jeremy Thornton, Jamal Harden, Melanie Grier, Coby Harden, Whitley Smith, September Mcginty, Shequita Geter, Dazmon Harden, Alyssia Irvin, Tycorey Dudley, Keyarria Huzzie, Jacoria Dudley, Dezirea Thornton, Alexis Thornton, Tyrese Thornton, Joseph Boden, David Thornton; great grandchildren, Jamorion Robinson, Maliyah Grier, Bre’Asia Thornton, Aiden Smith, Alayja Thornton, Aubrey Harden, Elijah Johnson, Colaysha Partridge, Jakirea Harden, Masiah Henare, Ava Irvin; five sisters; Linda Faye Bell of Rock Mills, AL; Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Teresa) Hall, Lagrange, GA; Sylvia Brewer, Franklin, GA; Peggy Brewer, LaGrange, GA; and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford (April) Allen, LaGrange, GA; two brothers, Scott Brewer and Benjamin Brewer, both of Franklin, GA; and host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Stateline Baptist Church. Rev. A. K. McDonald will officate. Burial will follow at Southview Cemetery.
