Joseph R. Riha, age 82, formerly of 3208 Prairies St., Two Rivers, a resident of North Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, died Sunday morning, March 30, 2003 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 4. 2003 at the Klein & Stengel Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Sister Francette Reibe of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Military honors will be accorded by Two Rivers VFW Post 1248 and American Legion following the service. Cremation will take place with burial at Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers, at a later date.
Joseph was born Feb. 8, 1921 in Two Rivers, son of the late Charles and Frances Schiman Riha. He graduated from Washington High School with the class of 1939. Joseph served in the U.S. Navy from August 1942 until October 1945 as a Shipfitter 2nd Class during WWII where he served overseas and in the American theater. He then married the former Arvilla Rousse in Two Rivers. Joseph worked at Hamilton Manufacturing for more than 40 years until his retirement. He was a trumpet player in various local bands including Romy Gosz and The Hamilton Band.
