Cynthia K. Holt of Orlando, died after a heroic battle with breast cancer. Cyndy was surrounded by her family in the home of her stepfather, Frank Durkee and mother, Martha Hoey Durkee in Suntree.

Cyndy was born in El Paso, Texas, to William Kenneth Hoey and Martha June Holt Hoey. She was a teacher to us all.

After graduating from the University of Florida in 1970 as a Deans List Honoree with a Degree in Education, she interned as a teacher at Evans High School in Orlando and remained at Evans for twenty five years. She taught English Literature, Greek Mythology and Honors Humanities to generations of Orlando's young minds. Her classes were in great demand, innovative, always full of students eager to attend any of her lectures and renowned field trips to art museums and the ballet. After her tenure at Evans, Cyndy transferred and went on to teach another seven years at Boone High School. Cyndy loved teaching and shared her passion for the arts with her students.

Cyndy grew up in Brevard County and graduated from Satellite High in 1966. She married a Satellite High School Alumni. Cyndy is survived by their two sons. After their divorce, Cyndy assumed her mother's maiden name of Holt as her surname. She is also survived by her twin sisters and her brother and their families.

During Cyndy's battle with cancer, she demonstrated her grit and determination and completed her courses at Rollins College in the Masters of Liberal Studies program. Cyndy's keen mind, her love of laughter, her devotion to family, her continued quest for knowledge, and all of her warmth and charm will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial services were held on August 21, 2004 in The Knowles Chapel at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.
