Nick McCoy, 87, of West Lafayette, died at 7:45 AM Wednesday, May 11, 2016’ in his residence.

He was born April 26, 1929, in Freeland Park, to the late Ray and Rosetta McCoy. Nick worked at Metzger Lumber right after graduating from Fowler High School in 1948 until joining the Navy in 1950. After more than 3 years of service and an Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he worked as the Manager of Reliability and Warranty for 33 years at Ross Gear until his retirement in 1989. In 1992 he purchased the Phillips 66 on North 43 and continued to run the business until his death. On October 24, 1953 he married Carmella Messina in California. She survives. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion Post #492. He was also a member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament. Nick loved all sports but especially IU and Fowler Bulldogs basketball.

Surviving along with his wife, Carmella McCoy of West Lafayette, are his daughters, Nikki Furmeister (husband David) of Terre Haute, Kathy McCoy of West Lafayette, and Linda Post (husband Robert) of West Lafayette, and sons, Bill McCoy (former wife Anita McCoy) of South Carolina, and Jon McCoy (wife Julie) of Lafayette. Nick has 10 grandchildren, Christopher Furmeister, Courtney Cole (husband Taylor), Brittany Furmeister, Heather and Brad Post,and Kaleigh, Matthew, Jack, Nicholas, and Katie McCoy. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the funeral mass begins at 1:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2016 at Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 2224 Sacramento Dr. West Lafayette, IN 47906. Fr. Ted Dudzinski will be officiating. Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
