Leslie was the daughter of Jimmy Lamar Jackson and Marie Broadwell Jackson. She was born in California but moved with her family to Georgia at an early age and attended Brooks County High School in Quitman, Georgia. She was survived by her husband, Willard Michael Patrick, two brothers, Jimmy Jackson JR of Dunn, NC and Scott Jackson of Valdosta, GA, her beloved mother, Marie Broadwell Jackson and her grandmother, Lucille Stewart. She was a beautiful, vibrant young woman who inspired love in all who knew her.

"Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circling flight,
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep."
