He had brothers named Paul and Mose Sears. His marriage to Allie Sears ended in divorce some time between the 1930 and 1940 US Census. His obituary, published in the Mount Clemens Daily Monitor-Leader May 20, 1946, says he was well known in Saint Clair Flats as a fisherman and sportsman.
