On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at approximately 12 midnight, God chose to inject the temporary pause into the life of Henry Lee Henderson; a life that began on January, 21, 1948.
He was born to Warren Henderson and Ethel Miller, in the quiet town of Pittsburg, Kansas, but was raised by his grandmother, Eura Henderson, in Iola, Kansas.
Henry received his formal education at Iola public school and Allen County Community College, and for the next four decades, with the same company, he would be characterized by his strong work ethic and commitment to service. He was an active member of the Three Angels Seventh-day Adventist Church, and for over 20 years, Henry diligently served as a deacon, church board member, school board member, and immersed himself in the churchs youth ministry department. Henrys life of service extended beyond the boundaries of St. Joseph, and in 2006, he was part of a dynamic team of volunteers in Hyderbad, India, participating in health seminars, evangelism, clothing and food distribution.
On July 3, 2004, Henry began a new dimension in his life, when he married Annette Darlington. He was a wonderful husband and father to his children, whom he loved unconditionally. He made time to attend their sporting events and took special interest in what was important to them. Henry stressed academic excellence, and invested much of his time coaching his own children, grandchildren, and volunteering his time to help youth in the community play soccer, baseball and track.
Also, competition was important to him; he was a keen sportsman, and won numerous awards for his athletic abilities. His hobbies include but are not limited to traveling, camping and fishing. In spite of his busy schedule Henry found time to dabble in technology.
On his life journey, Henry was a loving, generous, compassionate, thoughtful and loyal person. He loved people! His legacy was to serve and extend a helping hand to those who were in need.

He is survived by: his beloved wife, Annette Henderson; his children, LaRon Henderson (Heather), Omaha, Nebraska, Janelle Trinkle (Paul), Leavenworth, Kansas, Mika and Mikeal Henderson, St. Joseph, TeFeris Henderson, Kansas City, Missouri, and Heather Henderson, St. Joseph; grandchildren, Noni, Justus, Jada, Mia, Miles, Amonttay, KaMiyah and Xion Henderson; sisters, Diane, Deidre, Toni and Terri Lee, Cheryl Thompson, and Shirley Vaughn; brothers, Warren Henderson Jr. and Emery Lee; uncles, Frank Williams Jr. and Russell Henderson; aunts, Patricia Pulley and JoAnn Hunter; a host of nephews, nieces, in-laws and friends.
Henry will be sorely missed by his immediate family, his church family, friends and the numerous lives he has touched on this journey.
Celebration of a life well-lived of the late Henry Lee Henderson will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Three Angels Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The internment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5005 Frederick Avenue, St. Joseph, MO 64506.
