Burial 1:30pm Monday, May 16, 2016 at Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Memorial visitation 2-8pm Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Jerry was born in Martin, Tennessee on October 25, 1943, the son of the late Curtis and Marie Powers.
Jerry married Phyllis LaFond on March 6, 1965.
He graduated from Lansing Sexton High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Northwood University. Jerry retired from General Motors SPO after 45 years of service. Jerry served in the United States Army for 4 years and 30 years in the National Guard.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing golf, his beloved bulldogs and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are wife, Phyllis; 2 children, Curtis and wife Lora Powers and their children, Alexis and Jordan of Rochester Hills and Margaret Powers and her children, Jackson and Paige of Grand Blanc; sisters, Joan and husband Jim Kursch and Kitty McKechnie; brothers, Rick and wife Patti LaFond and Larry and wife Debbie Laster;
and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Richard and Doris LaFond.
