Charles A. Sprague, 70, of 1203 Pershing Ave., Davenport, died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday in St. Luke's hospital following a nine-weeks' illness.
Mr. Sprague was born Sept. 27, 1885, in Smithville, Ill., and received his education in Quincy, Ill. schools. He had lived in Davenport for 47 years. On Nov. 24, 1904, he married Margaret Keating.
Mr. Sprague had been employed by Sacony Vacuum Oil co. for 25 years and had operated a gas station at Locust & Pershing for many years until his retirement in 1953. He was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge No. 298.
Surviving are the wife; one daughter, Mrs. LeRoy (Helen) Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Walter Rittler of Quincy; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hill & Fredericks chapel with the Elks Lodge officiating. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
