He lived in Gloucester and Beverly for many years. He also resided in Berlin, NH for a short period and graduated from Berlin High School, class of 1947. Following High School, Ray attended Boston University for two years until he left college to honorably serve his country in Korea as a soldier in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Ray was employed by the former Beverly Savings Bank for over thirty years before his retirement. He enjoyed playing drums for several Beverly bands and loved bicycle riding. Ray was also an avid Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and Boston Bruins fan.
Survived by his wife; one son, Jeffrey S. Norwood of Beverly; one daughter, Cynthia A. Norwood of Beverly; one brother, Gilbert A. Norwood, MD of Beverly; his in-laws, Philip A. and Dorothy Loreti of Danvers, Paul L. Hennessey of Beverly, Maureen Loreti of Beverly; and many nieces and nephews.
