Singer, Composer. One of the best known South American folk singers, he was born in El Sunchal, Jujuy, Argentina. In the 1960s he formed the group The Voices of Huayra with Alberto Fields and Gilberto Cow, Later, and later continued his career as a soloist. Cafrune toured internationally and did extensive research into the folk music of his country. His many songs include "La del Disimulo", "Zamba de mi Esperanza", "Yo He Visto Cantar al Viento", "Voy Andando", "Que Seas Vos", "La Martín Güemes", "La Cautiva", "Permiso", and "Virgen India", and he appeared in the films "El Cantor Enamorado" (1969) and "Argentinísima" (1972), among others. He was fatally hit by a car near Benavídez city. Carfune was originally buried in Cementerio de la Chacarita, but his ashes were later removed.
