Considered the father of the Canadian Pentecostal Movement, R. E. McAlister was a charter member of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada and served as the Editor of The Pentecostal Testimony from 1919-1937. Affectionately known to thousands of Pentecostal people throughout the world as "Brother R. E." McAlister preached the gospel for over 50 years. McAlister was a central figure in the growth of the Pentecostal Movement in Canada, seeing it grow from six churches to over 600 churches and an estimated membership of 50,000 people.
