In 1867, Katherine, along with her younger sister Appolonia Goeser and her parents, moved to a farm in Spring Hill (Township) in Stearns County, Minnesota.
On 16 June 1885, Katherine Goeser married Joseph Athmann at Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill, MN; she was age 19, he was 34. Joseph was the oldest of five children {four sons & one daughter} born to Johann Heinrich & Katherine (Vienage) Athmann. Joseph preceded her in death on 12 April 1921; he was age 70.

Katherine Athmann was well known & loved; she was called "Tante Katherine" by many in the Spring Hill area. Three of Katherine's sisters became nuns in the Saint Rose Convent in La Crosse, WI.
