Born March 9, 1926 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Newton Bledsoe (1891-1956) and Bertha Lelia-Mae McCarty-Bledsoe (1897-1932).
Lucille was devout Christian and spent her days by her husband's side as he pastored many churches. She was a member of the Mt Carmel Freewill Baptist Church of Sabine. Lucille faithfully attended church as long as her health permitted. She was active with the ladies aid and enjoyed being in the kitchen making fried apple pies.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Roy Lee Lester Sr. (1922-2004) whom she married on February 17, 1949 in Keyrock, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1949, Page 498, Application Date: February 12, 1949); infant daughter Betty Ann Lester (1950-1950); siblings, Willie Lee Bledsoe (Deceased), Ruby Mae Bledsoe-Ickes (1915-1981), Mary Drucilla "Dressie" Bledsoe-Daniel (1917-1990), Helen Fanny Bledsoe-Allen (Deceased), Celia Leona Bledsoe-Baker (Deceased), Arthur Junior Bledsoe (Deceased), Francis Lorraine Bledsoe-Bailey (Deceased), Ralph Daniel Bledsoe (1925-1962), John Henry Bledsoe (Deceased), Kenneth Odell Bledsoe (Deceased), Robert Earl Bledsoe (Deceased) and Bertha Melvinia Bledsoe (Deceased).
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dr. Roy Lee Lester Jr. and his wife Ernestine of Kingsport TN, Donna Sue Lester-Dixon and her husband Roy Lee Dixon of Jesse, Dennis Malcolm Lester and his wife Tracy Lester of Iron Station NC; grandsons, Joshua Andrew Lester and his wife Melanie of Duffield, VA and Robert Dale "Bobby" Lester and his girlfriend Julie Ritter of Wilmington, NC; great grandchildren, Andrew Carter Lester and Mattie Alexis Lester of Duffield VA.: sisters in law, Gladys Carothers and her husband Bob and Amanda Toler and her husband Bob, both of Keyrock; brother in law, Calvin Lester of Raleigh County.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2 pm in the chapel of Calfee Funeral Service with Pastor Randy Lusk, Pastor Gary Ford and family friend Buddy Maynor officiating. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens.
