He was born Feb. 27, 1931, in Hebe, a son of the late Sophia Wolfgang Land and William Wiest.
He attended school in Hebe.
He worked as a coal miner at the former Bush Coal Company for more than 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Hoffman Wiest.
He is survived by three daughters: Linda, Geistwite of Lykens, Ellen Gery of Tucson, Ariz. and Elizabeth Deibert of Hebe; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services were held at Salem Cemetery, Klingerstown.
The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, was charge of arrangements.
