Ted was born on January 9, 1924 in Lowell, Massachusetts, a son of Albert and Stella (Kurlis) Kulaga. He proudly served our country as a B25 pilot in the Air Force during World War II attaining the rank of Captain. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medial with 1 oak leaf cluster, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Ted was united in marriage to Kathleen Callery on October 22, 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Princeville, Illinois. They have shared over 66 years of marriage and memories together.
After his discharge Ted began working for the F.A.A. as an air traffic controller in Boston and Indianapolis for 15 years. He later worked for the government at the Rock Island Arsenal as an industrial specialist for 22 years before his retirement in 1982.
Ted enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, and snow skiing. He also loved to travel and would regularly take his family on two week vacations during the summer months. Ted accomplished the feat of traveling to all 50 states.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen, Bettendorf, children and their spouses: Jim and Debi Kulaga, Carmel, Indiana, Eileen Thomson, Jackson, Wyoming, Tom Kulaga, Albuquerque, N.M., Joe Kulaga, San Jose, Calif., Bob and Dawn Kulaga, Everett, Wash., Mary and Shane Arnott, Stevensville, Mont., and six grandchildren.
Ted was preceded in death by a grandson, Connor, his parents, and a brother and sister. May they rest in peace.
