Funeral services are 1 pm Wednesday at the Knox Chapel of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 7 Ave., Rock Island. Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is Noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established with a veteran's organization.
Guy was born Oct. 25, 1933 in Milan, a son of Guy Sr. and Hattie Tipple Carter. He married Joyce Warzinski in 1958 and she passed away in 2012. He married Mary Jane Haberthur Gerlich on April 11, 2014 in Rock Island.
Guy graduated from Rock Island High School and attended Black Hawk College. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hornet during the Korean Conflict. Guy retired from the Rock Island Arsenal, where he worked with the Weapons Command.
He was a member of Our Lady Guadalupe, Silvis, and had participated in a Cursillo. Guy was also a member of Moline American Legion Post 246 and its Honor Guard. He was an avid fisherman and made and sold his own lures.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; children, Daniel Carter and his wife, Mary, East Moline, Craig Carter, East Moline, Michell Carter, Colona, and Matthew Carter, Silvis; a sister, Patsy Bognar, of Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Cecil Carter; and sister, Doris Rogers.
