HAZEL L. JOHNSON

Hazel L. JOHNSON, 97, formerly of Birmingham died at 5:15 A.M. Saturday May 16, 1998 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, Keosauqua, where she had resided since January, 1997. She was born May 12, 1901 at Winchester to Thomas and Mary FORD LYON. She married Lloyd JOHNSON January 18, 1922 in Stockport. He died June 15, 1976. She lived her life in the Stockport-Birmingham area until entering the care center. She had attended Birmingham United Methodist Church and was a former member of Royal Neighbors of America and American Legion Auxiliary in Stockport.

Surviving are a daughter, Betty L. BOLEY and her husband, Leo of Keosauqua, two grandchildren, EMC Dennis BOLEY, U.S. Navy, Norfolk, VA and Barbara BOLEY, Keosauqua, a great granddaughter, Hollie BOLEY, U.S. Naval Hospital, Charleston, S.C., and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward, Thomas, Robert, Eugene and James LYON, seven sisters, Carrie NAIL, Etta CALHOUN, Harriett MECK, Cleola BRIGHTWELL, Ida Mae LYON, Mary MOORE and Gladys STILLWELL, and two siblings in infancy.

Funeral services were held 10 A.M. Tuesday May 19, 1998 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, Rev. S. Gale Hawhee, pastor of Lebanon United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was at in Maple Hill cemetery, Birmingham. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Van Buren County Hospital and left at the funeral home. (Posted online by volunteer, Sherri.)
