Mr. Richard Lee Hancock, age 71, of Pinson Road, Rome and formerly of Adairsville, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the residence.

He was born in Ellijay, Georgia, July 7, 1944, son of the late Linzy Hancock and Faye Fountain Hancock. Richard was one of a kind, he never met a stranger. Most will remember him for always riding around on his bicycle. He had worked in the poultry business, was the yardman and the janitor at Barton Funeral Home for many years, and also mowed a number of yards around town. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margarett Mulkey Hancock; son, Eddie Hancock; and brother, Rayford Hancock.

Survivors include his children, Richard Dwight Hancock, Tony Hancock, and Angelia Hancock; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Hancock and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gravesides services will be held Monday, May 2, 2016 at 2:00 PM from Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Ludville with Brother Barry Brock officiating. Pallbearers include Barry Mount, Richie Hancock, Justin Garland, Steven Summers, Jason Mount, Jackie Mulkey and Darrell Buttrum. Honorary pallbearer includes Matthew Carver.

The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
