Robert C. Isler, 85 years old, of Oxford, formerly of Warren, Ohio, died at 9:21 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford.


He was born Dec. 7, 1920, in Windham, a son of the late Payton C. and Edna Gay Cutlip Isler.


He received his two-year associate's degree at Warren Business College. He was employed at Peerless Winsmith Corp. for 42 years, retiring in 1986 as director of purchasing.


He served in the United States Coast Guard in World War II.


He was a member of the Warren Elks Club; past P.T.O president; lifetime member and twice past president of the Purchasing Management Association of the Youngstown District. He was involved with youth baseball in Warren from 1950-75: Gadget ball, Little League, Pony League, American Legion League, and he was district director for the National Little League of Williamsport. He was also a member of SCOPE.


Survivors include his wife, Harriett Curtiss Isler, whom he married March 12, 1944; two sons: Curtiss Lee (Judy) Isler and Scott Alan (Cinda) Isler; one daughter: Bobbe Lou Burke; one sister, Ruth A. Isler-Freel and 10 grandchildren.


Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Payton C. Isler, and his sister, Elizabeth E. Kachner.


Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at Tod Avenue United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Anita Rayburn officiating. Interment was in the Windham Township Cemetery.
