Ann Hall Justus, 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Smithville, Missouri on May 4, 2016 surrounded by her family.

Ann was born on August 29, 1922 to Warren Edward Hall and Rosalie Scott Hall in Weston, Missouri. She was raised at the family's Hazelwood home in Weston and attended Weston High School where she excelled in her studies and in sports. Ann met the love of her life Krauss Justus at age 18 and they married on Valentine's Day 1943. Ann attended the University of Missouri in Columbia and graduated from the University of Kansas City School of Pharmacy with top honors in 1956. Ann and her husband Krauss raised seven children while she managed the Justus Drugstore in Smithville, Missouri. Ann was one of the few female pharmacists in the Kansas City area during that time and enjoyed a 52 year career as a pharmacist.

Ann was a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family dearly and cherished time with her family and friends. Ann was an avid bridge player and a great fan of the Kansas City Royals and the MU Tigers. She was a co-founder of the Smithville Breakfast Club which later evolved into the Smithville Chamber of Commerce. Ann enjoyed travel, sailing, reading and history. She was a longtime member of the Smithville Historical Society and of the Alpha Book Club in Smithville. She was very supportive of the community and was presented with the key to the City of Smithville in 2008.

Ann made numerous trips to the beautiful beaches of Mexico, Hawaii, Florida and California and enjoyed several cruises with her husband. She also travelled to Europe several times which included trips to England, Scotland, Italy, France and Germany. She also attended the wedding of her oldest granddaughter in Paris.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband Krauss in 2009, her brother Robert, and sister Rosemary and by her parents.

She is survived by her devoted children, Lynn (Walt) Feitshans of Titusville, FL, Jeanette Justus (Richard) Kusper of Newport Beach, CA, Frank (Maria) Justus III of Smithville, MO, Rosalie Justus of Novato, CA, Warren Justus of Kissimmee, FL, Jonathan (Camille Eklof) Justus of Smithville, MO, Laura (Nathan) Irvin of Loch Lloyd, MO; grandchildren, Sierra Barras, Frank Justus IV, Nolan Justus, Evelyn Irvin, Nathan Irvin Jr (Ike), Clere Irvin and Nora Irvin; great-grandchildren, Luke Barras and Adriana Barras; brother Ed Hall of Prairie Village, KS. and by her sister in law Jeanette Carlson of Knoxville, TN and by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 13th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.

A memorial to celebrate Ann’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11th at the First Christian Church in Smithville.

Private family burial will be held at Goss Cemetery.
