KAREN MARIE CROSS, 34, of Miami Beach, Fla., formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at home. Born June 14, 1972, in Fort Wayne, she was the beloved daughter of Karen L. and Perry P. Cross, devoted sister to Katrina M. Cross, Kara R. (Mat) Haughey, Beth Randle and Dodie (Gary) Lemke; loving aunt to Haley Haughey, Amara Holland, Quayston Reese, Mariah Lemke and JaKayla Jackson. Also survived by grandfather, Percy Cross of Akron, Ohio; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was a 1990 Northrop High School graduate, 1994 graduate from IU with a BS in Biology and a member of Phi Mu Sorority, 2002 graduate of Georgia State University with a joint M.B.A. J.D. Cum Laude as well as a member of the Moot Court Board. A former member of Georgia's Young Lawyers Division, Atlanta Women's Foundation, Board Member of Atlanta Junior Chamber of Commerce and most recently she was Assistant United States Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice Southern District of Florida. Also a member of Lawyers for Literacy in Miami Beach, Fla. Service is 2 p.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
