Mrs. Lois Joyce Schultz-Kandt, of Richmond, passed away after a brief illness, on Friday, May 6, 2016, at McLaren Macomb Hospital, Mt. Clemens, at the venerable age of 83 years 9 months and 24 days.

Lois Joyce, the daughter of the late William and Carrie (Barck) Alexy, was born in New Haven, Tuesday, July 12, 1932.

Her marriage to Lawrence Schultz was August 9, 1952, at St. John Lutheran Church, New Haven. Lawrence passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2004.

Lois found love again and married Lloyd Kandt on October 14, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Clemens.

Lois had attended St. John Lutheran Church, New Haven, where she was the organist and choir director. She was attending St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Memphis, as well as Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Clemens. Lois was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

Lois was a 1950 New Haven High School graduate. After graduation, she worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator for a few years before changing to the full time job of motherhood. Later in life, Lois began her 20 year career working in medical billing through her retirement in 1995.

Music was Lois’ passion, which was second only to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved spending time with, as her family and faith were most important to her.

Lois enjoyed flower gardening, knitting, crocheting and wintering in Florida.

Visitation for family and friends of Mrs. Lois Joyce (Schultz) Kandt, nee Alexy, will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, May 9, 2016, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, with 10:00 a.m. visitation at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Clemens. Rev. Ken Wise will officiate.

Burial will be in Centennial Cemetery, New Haven.
