WEST COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Bruce Melton Hart, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013, in Southland Memorial Gardens, officiated by Reverend Dale Mechling. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p .m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia.
Mr. Hart passed away Monday, January 21, 2013. Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late James Oscar and Beatrice Gable Hart. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, having served as a guard at Nuremberg Prison in Germany. Mr. Hart was self-employed in the home remodeling industry. He enjoyed fishing and life’s simple pleasures.
Surviving are his son, Rodney M. Hart of Cayce; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Lula M. Kelly Hart; daughters, Linda Jumper, Sherrian Hart and an infant daughter; also brothers, Julian Crosby and Hughie Crosby.
