Charles D. Albritton, Sr.

Mr. Charles D. Albritton, Sr., 88, of Lake City passed away peacefully in the Haven Hospice of the Suwannee Valley on Thursday, May 5, 2016 following a brief illness. A native of Baker County, Florida, Mr. Albritton moved to Columbia County as a young child and had been a resident since. The son of the late Lawrence Bascom Albritton and Edwina Corbett Albritton he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict achieving the rank of Corporal. Following his service he owned and operated the Albritton Trucking Company specializing in the timber industry and also the Albritton Blueberry Farm for many years. In his spare time he was an avid deer hunter, fisherman he loved working year round in his garden and making cane syrup in the fall. He was a very active member of the First Full Gospel Church enjoying all of the church functions. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Dukes Albritton, and two sons, Charles D. Albritton, Jr. and L.W. Albritton. Mr. Albritton is survived by two daughters, Susan Word (Terry) of Bartow, Florida; and Peaches Ellis (Stan) of Lake City, Florida and a son Kevin Albritton (Brenda) also of Lake City; a sister, Isabelle Vining and three brothers, Tommy Albritton, Jonath Albritton and Harry Albritton. Thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Albritton will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, May 9, 2016 in the First Full Gospel Church with his grandson, Rev. Ron Moates officiating assisted by Rev. Barney Hurst. The family will receive friends at the church for TWO HOURS prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors being rendered by the U.S. Army.
