Corporal Teeman enlisted into the U.S. Army at Pittsburgh PA for 3 years on September 30, 1867. He was described as 5'9" tall, gray eyes, light hair and fair complexion. His listed civilian occupation was listed as puddler.

In October 1867 he reported for duty at Ft Harker KS and was assigned to Battery B, 4th U.S. Artillery. When his enlistment expired on September 30, 1870, at Ft Riley KS, Teeman reenlisted into the same company.

On September 8, 1871, he was listed as a deserter from Ft McHenry MD. On August 12, 1871, Teeman, under the alias of William A Adams, enlisted at Cincinnati OH. On December 1, 1872, he was assigned to Company F, 7th U.S. Cavalry at Louisville KY. Company F was commanded Capt George Yates.

Records show that on November 19, 1873, Teeman was listed as under confinement for desertion. On March 18, 1874 he was listed as restored to duty, without trial, under his true name of William Teeman. He was to serve the balance of his enlistment with Company F.

At the Battle of the Little Bighorn Company F was attached to Custer's battalion. Sometime during the battle Teeman was killed.

After the battle most of Company F was found on or near Last Stand Hill.

Teeman's remains were not reported as being identified. It is likely that his unidentified remains were buried where they had been found on the battlefield.

In 1881 all known battlefield burials were moved to a mass grave on Last Stand Hill.
