Jeanne was born April 27, 1939 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Clarence and Celia Lancaster. The family moved to Nyssa in 1945.
Jeanne met the love of her life, Lloyd Wood, on a blind date. Lloyd and Jeanne were married on December 24, 1957. She followed her husband to El Paso, Texas where he was stationed in the army and later returned to Nyssa when Lloyd was stationed in Germany. Lloyd and Jeanne were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 19, 1966. They were the parents of six children.
Jeanne was an active member of the Nyssa LDS First Ward, where she served as Primary President, Relief Society President, and many other positions. By far, her favorite position was the Advancement Chairman for the scouting program where she “encouraged” many young men to become Eagle Scouts. She served in this capacity for over 20 years.
Jeanne was an avid reader. She enjoyed cooking for her family and she always said, “If you put your feet under my table, you belong to me.” She was a second mom to many of her children’s friends.
Jeanne is survived by her children: Larry (Toni) Wood, Robin Wood, Michael (Kim) Wood, Lori (Alfredo) Hernandez and Jon (Susan) Wood; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; son, Scott; both her parents; and her brother, Sid Lancaster.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Nyssa Gardens Assisted Living for their loving care of our mother.
A funeral service will be held May 13, 2016 at 11a.m. with a viewing prior to the service starting at 10a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1309 Park Ave. Nyssa, Oregon. There will be a viewing for family and friends on May 12, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel at 207 Ehrgood Ave, Nyssa, Oregon.
